The 31 year old has recently returned from injury but is likely to be left on the bench for this weekend’s clash with Norwich City and wants to complete his desired move to San Lorenzo.

The £10m signing has once again publicly called for a St James’ Park exit stating;

“I have to speak the truth; I would like to return as soon as possible,” he said.

“In January we did all we could for a possible return to San Lorenzo but I always made it clear that Newcastle would have the last word. The club have invested a lot in me and I must show respect towards them.

“The truth is I don’t want to get my hopes up. Hopefully it (departure for Argentina) will be as soon as possible though.”

Alan Pardew would be loathed to lose such a key defensive performer though it seems that the longer Coloccini makes his feelings known on the matter the more likely the Magpies are to consider moves to sell the experienced centre-back.
