Chelsea are reportedly the favourites to sign Barcelona forward Lionel Messi following speculation that the Argentine may be ready to complete a surprise Nou Camp exit according to Fanatix.

The 26 year old has reacted angrily to comments made by club director Javier Faus in relation to ongoing contract renewal talks.

On the prospect of offering Messi a new deal Faus stated that there was no need to review his contract, which was only renewed in February, this has led to an astonishing attack by the four time Ballon d’Or winner who stated;

“Barcelona is the best club in the world and should be represented by the best board members, too,” he said.

“Senor Faus is someone who doesn’t know anything about football and wants to manage Barcelona like a business, which it is not,”

“Besides, I would remind him that neither I nor anyone from my camp has asked for any wage increase and he knows that very well.”

This source also claims that Messi may not be all that happy about the summer signing of Brazilian Neymar, who has performed well in his first season at the Catalan club.

Indeed during Lionel Messi’s absence Neymar has continued to ably fill the void, which could in theory, lead Barcelona to believe they could still be a major European footballing force without the club record goal-scoring forward.

Fanatix, quite rightly, points out that a move to La Liga rivals Real Madrid would be unthinkable leading to a move away from Spain should Messi indeed leave Barcelona.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready and waiting with his sizable wallet to make a massive offer for Messi and one would have to imagine that it would take an offer way in excess of the world record £85m Real Madrid spent on Gareth Bale over the summer to stand any chance whatsoever of signing the Barcelona star.

The chances of a Lionel Messi transfer away from Barcelona seem slim to none and having scored an astonishing 327 goals in 395 appearances for the European giants it would take an offer of mammoth proportions to have any chance of luring the forward to Stamford Bridge.
