The German international has been linked with a move to Barcelona for a long time now, often being mooted as the eventual replacement for Victor Valdes, who is set to leave when his contract in Catalonia expires at the end of the season.

However, reports in Germany have suggested that the La Liga champions have competition for his future in the shape of Italian giants Juventus, and now Arsenal.

The Gunners have been linked to a number of goalkeepers over the past couple of months, most notably Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas, who himself is thought to be keen on a switch after falling out of favour at the Bernabeu.

Though it now appears that Ter Stegen has joined the list after his impressive displays for Monchengladbach have caught Arsene Wenger’s eye.

Gladbach are still hopeful that he will extend his deal with them beyond its expiration in 2015 but with a number of Europe’s top clubs on his tail it now appears unlikely to happen.
