David Moyes will apparently put to good use the £100m he has been handed to improve his Old Trafford squad by looking to lure Portuguese international Moutinho away from big spending Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, just months after he left FC Porto to join the principality club.

Moyes is looking to freshen up his midfield in view of some very average displays by those he can currently call upon to fill central roles.

Tom Cleverley has come in for a fair amount of criticism, Anderson continues to fail to make an impact and prior to being sidelined with injury Marouane Fellaini had hardly set the world on fire with his opening displays for Man United following his big money move from Everton.

Claudio Ranieri spent £21.5m on 27 year old Moutinho, who has been relatively impressive since his move to the French top tier, and it would be a surprise if the Stade Louis II boss would be looking to sell the midfielder who only arrived last May as part of a double deal that also saw his FC Porto team-mate James Rodriguez move to AS Monaco.

Prior to his move to France Moutinho enjoyed three successful seasons with FC Porto, winning three domestic titles and a Europa League winners medal among a host of honours.
