Moyes is keen on freshening up his central defensive options and has earmarked moves for FC Porto’s Eliaqium Mangala and Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay who could be seen as a long term replacements for Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, with both Old Trafford stars out of contract in the summer.

Mendes has previously played a crucial role in Man United purchases of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson and could be key to successful moves to sign either Primeira Liga target.
