The 21 year old has signed a five and a half year deal and will wear the number 15 shirt for the Blues and is seemingly in part a replacement for Man United bound Juan Mata.
The Egyptian international can play across a number of positions including on either flank or in a central striking role and has proven a big success during his time in Switzerland scoring 20 goals in 79 appearances.
Indeed Salah scored in both encounters between FC Basel and Chelsea this season and becomes Jose Mourinho’s second signing of the January transfer window with the West London side re-signing Nemanja Matic earlier this month.
The BBC claim that the fee paid by the Premier League side is £11m though the Daily Mail believe that the overall cost could amount to as much as £20m.
