The Bundesliga side will see Robert Lewandowski move to domestic rivals Bayern Munich on a free transfer this summer and boss Jurgen Klopp is therefore looking for a strong striking option to replace the Polish international.

25 year old Mexican Javier Hernandez may well be running out of patience at Old Trafford, with his already sparse first team chances becoming more limited under David Moyes than they were during Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.

Indeed Chicharito has made just four Premier League starts this season and has seen Danny Welbeck force his way ahead of him in the Man United pecking order, with Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie also clearly in front of Hernandez in that regard.

Despite his lack of playing time Hernandez has more than proven himself a deadly finisher at Man United, netting 57 goals in 146 appearances, a strike-rate that is all the more impressive when you consider 61 of those appearances came from the bench.

Moyes may well be ready to sell Hernandez as part of what may prove a wide-ranging squad re-shuffle.
