News source La Repubblica believe that a deal between the manager and the club has already been agreed and he will put pen-to-paper on a multi year deal to take over from the former Spurs midfielder.

The Italy coach has been just one of several names linked with the job this summer alongside Holland national team boss Louis van Gaal and Ajax manager Frank de Boer.

Sherwood took over the reigns from Andre Villas-Boas earlier on this season and has given them fresh impetus to qualify for next season’s Champions League following a shaky start to the campaign.

But speculation surrounding his future continues to amble along and news of Prandelli’s impending takeover will surely do no good for the short term stability of the camp.

The 56-year-old took over as Italy coach in 2010, leading the country to the final of Euro 2012, where they lost to Spain and he will reportedly take over at White Heart Lane following Italy’s World Cup campaign in Brazil.
