United defender has been negotiating San Siro switch for some time.

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has been in talks with new club Inter Milan since January and is excited at the prospect of moving to the San Siro, according to the Serbian’s agent.

Inter announced the capture of the 32-year-old centre half on a free transfer today, with Vidic set to join the Nerazzurri at the end of the current campaign.

The Serbia international has been with the Red Devils since arriving from Spartak Moscow in January 2006 and has won five Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League with the Old Trafford club.

His agent, Silvano Martina, revealed talks with Inter have been ongoing for over two months and said his client was happy with Inter’s ‘project’.

“Nemanja is excited about the choice he’s made,” Martina told GianlucaDiMarzio.com.

“He had already decided to leave Manchester United, and Inter was a really interesting option.

“January 1 negotiations began. That’s when all the parties started talking. Nemanja loved everything about this project and hopes to carry the club forward.”

United still have ten league games left to salvage European football for next season, as well as two-goal deficit to overturn in their Champions League last-16 second leg against Olympiakos.

Martina assured fans that Vidic would continue to give his all for the club.

“Nemanja is a professional though, so right now he wants to do well for Manchester United, honouring the club and the fans.”
