Podolski, 28, has struggled for regular first team football at the Emirates Stadium this season, making just five league starts and a further five sub appearances in the Premier League.
The German international’s situation has alerted Inter’s wealthy owner Erick Thohir and the Nerazzurri are weighing up a summer move for the former Bayern Munich star.
Arsenal are believed to want to recruit the £11m they paid Cologne for Podolski two years ago, but it remains to be seen if they will sell given the current shortage of strikers at the club.
Inter have already confirmed the signing of Man United captain Nemanja Vidic on a free transfer, with the Serbian set to arrive this summer.
The Serie A club are currently fifth in the table and almost certain to miss out on Champions League football yet again.
