The experienced Spain international has already announced that he will definitely be leaving Camp Nou come the climax to this campaign, although it had initially been expected that the shot stopper would be moving to big-spending Ligue 1 side AS Monaco instead.

However, now according to reports coming out of France, the Spaniard has performed a dramatic U-turn and will instead join City this summer, with the north-west outfit having used the presence of the keeper’s compatriots David Silva, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo at Eastlands in order to persuade Valdes to join them.

And not only that, but City director of football Txiki Begiristain also knows the 32-year-old well from their time working together in Catalonia in the past, when the Catalan held the same position at Barca.

But Valdes’s arrival at City does though place huge question marks over the future of the club’s current No 1 Joe Hart.
