The French playmaker has already said that he is ready to bring the curtain down on his eight year association with the south coast club at the end of the season, prompting a host of top clubs from across Europe to sit up and take notice.

He is expected to feature for France in this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, which would normally act as a shop window for players seeking a move, but his performances in Ligue 1 have already earned him admirers in the shape of Arsenal, Barcelona, and Manchester United.

And sources close to the club have suggested that he is keen on joining up with the Red Devils.

Valbuena apparently came close to moving to Old Trafford back in 2011 after Sir Alex Ferguson made an enquiry into his availability, but the diminutive star’s wage demands were the only thing that put the transfer on ice. Valbuena has made seven assists and scored two goals in 27 league games so far this season.
