The highly-rated 20-year-old has been impressing whilst on loan at Championship side Birmingham City this season, and has already began to make an impression on the international scene as he was called up by the Welsh senior side to replace the injured Aaron Ramsey against Iceland last month.

He is represented by former Liverpool legend Michael Owen, and he has made no secret of his faith that the midfielder will go on to be a top class Premier League star in the future.

Current Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has a proven track record of developing young players in his first team, and a source close to the club has claimed that the manager has been keeping tabs on the player for several months now, with the view of making an official approach over the summer.

Huws made his first appearance for Manuel Pellegrini’s first team in the closing stages of January’s 5-0 FA Cup victory over Blackburn Rovers.

However, the Reds may face a difficult task in convincing Pellegrini to part with the young Welshman, who could be seen as a replacement for the injury ravaged Jakc Rodwell.
