Real Madrid are ready to step-up their interest in Man United keeper David de Gea according to Football Direct News.

The Bernabeu side had hoped to sign Kiko Casilla but the former Real Madrid man has committed his future to Espanyol and interest in Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois has also waned since the La Liga side were scared off by the Belgian’s price-tag.

David Moyes will fight off interest in de Gea, who has been one of Man United’s most consistent performers this term, though if the Old Trafford side fail to secure Champions League football for next term then the youngster may well consider a move back to his native Spain.

The former Atletico Madrid man initially struggled for form following his £18.9m move back in June 2011 but has gone to become one of the best keepers in the English top tier.

Despite Man United’s poor season de Gea has racked up 11 clean sheets and his superb double save against Olympiakos earlier this month kept the club in the Champions League.
