Old Trafford side to allow veteran to leave at the end of the current campaign.

Check in to Newcastle United vs Manchester United

Man United boss David Moyes is ready to sell veteran midfielder Michael Carrick this summer according to Football Direct News.

The Old Trafford manager is apparently keen to freshen up his squad and will look to offload some of the more experienced campaigners though a move to offload the 32 year old England man is perhaps a little surprising as he has been fairly consistent this season.

Players such as Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Nani and Ashley Young look set to follow Nemanja Vidic to the exit and Carrick may similar be looking for a new club after eight seasons at the club.

Carrick moved to Man United in an £18m deal back in the summer of 2006 and has gone on to rack up 346 appearances for the club and often been cited as an unsung hero, chiefly as he has usually been left to do the ‘dirty work’ without pulling out all that many stunning goals or assists.

There is bound to be a great deal of interest in Carrick should he become available at the end of the current campaign though because of his age he is unlikely to garner Man United a big sum.
