Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign long term striker target Diego Costa with the Daily Mirror claiming a £50m deal is close to completion.

The 25 year old Brazilian born Spanish international has scored 26 goals in La Liga action this term, goals that have helped Atletico Madrid to mount a genuine title challenge and his efforts have also aided the Vicente Calderon side to the Champions League semi-finals.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho reportedly plans to make way for Costa by offloading Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku whilst Demba Ba’s contract will expire at the end of the season.
Costa may well be tempted by the massive pay-rise offered by Chelsea and could feel he has achieved as much as he can at Atletico.
Mourinho has seen his current crop of forwards fail to make a consistent enough impact this term and the chance to field a prolific ace like Costa as the spearhead of his attack would certainly aid his push for major silverware.
The Chelsea manager may well be keen to sew up a deal as early as possible with Costa’s value likely to skyrocket if he impresses at the 2014 World Cup finals.
