Manchester United are hoping to beat Chelsea to the signature of £30m-rated wonderkid Luke Shaw, reports the Telegraph.

The Red Devils are hopeful of tying up a deal for the 18-year-old Southampton left back before this summer’s World Cup, in which Shaw is expected to compete for England.
Chelsea are also determined to sign Shaw, who is a Blues fan, but the level-headed youngster is said to be concerned about the possible lack of first team football at Stamford Bridge due to the impressive form of Jose Mourinho favourite Cesar Azpilicueta.
Ashley Cole is expected to sign a one-year extension with the Blues.
Conversely, at United Shaw would replace Patrice Evra, who is out of contract in the summer.
United boss David Moyes is likely to need at least two new defenders in the summer.
Nemanja Vidic has already agreed to join Inter Milan on a free transfer, while Rip Ferdinand and Evra are set to join the Serb in leaving the country.
