Stamford Bridge move on the cards?

Check in to Liverpool vs Chelsea

Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa appeared to suggest he’d be joining Chelsea this summer when he playfully responded to chants from Blues fans present during last night’s Champions League semi-final clash according to the Daily Mail.

The 25 year old was leaving the stadium following the 0-0 encounter and as he did so the Chelsea fans, who were held back in the Vicente Calderon stands as is common following European clashes, and waved to the club’s travelling support who were chanting ‘Diego Costa, we’ll see you next year.’

It’s of course possible that the Brazilian born Spanish international was unaware of what Chelsea fans were chanting though his amused expression suggested that he got the general gist.

Costa has long been linked with a move to join Chelsea and Jose Mourinho could well do with a fresh striking option, preferably one that can score regularly as this has proven a tough task from his current crop of options in the final third.

Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba both see their contracts expire in the summer and could both be set to leave whilst Fernando Torres is certainly a player who could be sold given his continuing disastrous form.

The 30 year old faced his former club during the stalemate in the Spanish capital and unsurprisingly failed to score, meaning the former Liverpool man has now managed just one goal in his last 16 appearances.

Costa’s 27 La Liga goals have helped Atletico Madrid to the top of the domestic table.
