The 40-year-old took charge of his first game in this weekend’s 4-0 victory over Premier League strugglers Norwich City, and the Welshman, who has been placed in charge for the remained of the season, left himself out of the squad to take on the Canaries.

However, he has insisted that that does not mean that his playing days are over just yet.

“I’ve not had time to train this week but I’ll train again on Monday and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch.”

Giggs then went on to speak of his pride at taking the reins of the club following his 24-year career with the Red Devils.

“All the years I’ve walked out at Old Trafford I’ve never felt like that.

“I felt 10 feet tall. The fans were great to me and the staff and players today. I was glad we could reward them because it’s been a frustrating season.”
