Members from the Napoli and Fiorentina playing and coaching staff were granted an audience with the Pope ahead of the two sides’ meeting Saturday’s Italian Cup final, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

Pope Francis is of course a football fan himself, with the Argentinian a well-known supporter of San Lorenzo back in his homeland, although on this occasion he took time out from his busy schedule to meet and greet all the players and managers from the two cup finalists, including former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez who is now in charge of the Southern Italian outfit.
