The 25 year old was fairly ineffective during his previous spell at Arsenal, often considered more style than substance, but during his three seasons at Real Sociedad the Mexican has matured into a top quality performer and apparently a player the north London club can bring in for a bargain price.

On the subject of re-signing for the Gunners Vela stated;

“Arsenal could buy me back for €4 (£3.2m) million, a million more than Real Sociedad paid. Now I see things differently and I’m open to the idea of Arsenal or any English club. I think I’m ready to go to another country.”

The Daily Express confirm that Arsenal could re-sign the Mexican for a cut-price fee and he would perhaps be the ideal addition to boost the options available to Arsene Wenger.

Vela is now considered one of the best attackers in the Spanish top tier and is having an excellent campaign, netting 17 goals and providing 11 assists this season, helping Real Sociedad to secure a spot in the Europa League next term.

Comfortable on the ball and with a great footballing brain Vela is very much a ‘Wenger-style’ player and a player who should certainly be on the Gunners shopping list for the upcoming transfer window.
