The prolific Brazil-born attacker is currently enjoying a fine campaign in front of goal for Atleti, with Costa’s goals having fired the Spanish outfit to the top of the table and now within touching distance of a first top-flight title since the 1995/96 season.

So far, the newly capped Spain international has managed to register a highly impressive 36 goals and seven assists in total in his 49 matches in all competitions for Atletico, including 27 strikes and five assists in his 34 La Liga contests for Diego Simeone’s team.

And it is those kind of eye-catching attacking numbers that have resulted in Jose Mourinho and Co expressing their interest in luring Costa from the Spanish to the English capital when the summer transfer window does reopen for business.

However, it now appears as though Simeone will try to convince the 25-year-old to spurn the Blues’ advances and remain in Spain for one more season.
