Chelsea are in pursuit of Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and are ready to offer winger Marko Marin in a part exchange deal for the Gabon international according to Football Direct News.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been strongly linked with a move for fresh striking options due chiefly to the failure his current crop to offer a consistent enough force this season.

Samuel Eto’o is set to leave Chelsea this summer and neither Demba Ba or Fernando Torres did enough to suggest they would be retained for the upcoming campaign though Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is perhaps a surprising target for the west London club.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moved to the Westfalenstadion from Saint-Etienne last summer and was presumably brought in by Jurgen Klopp mindful of the likely exit of Pole Robert Lewandowski, who has now agreed a deal to join Bayern Munich so one imagines that the Bundesliga side would be unlikely to sell the 24 year old.

Aubameyang had a solid first season in Germany, scoring 16 goals in all competitions whilst playing second fiddle to Lewandowski and may well be ready to take the step up to become Borussia Dortmund’s first choice starter though could be tempted by a move to Chelsea.

No doubt a move back to Germany would tempt Marin, who has seen his career slightly improved during a season long loan spell at Sevilla, and any move away from Chelsea would be one the pint sized wide-man would surely accept.
