Man United have apparently opened talks with Barcelona in relation to the Old Trafford side’s interest in Nou Camp star Alexis Sanchez according to La Stampa.

Louis van Gaal may well look to re-shuffle his Man United attack in order to make room for the Chilean international with both Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck keen to secure regular first team action.

Interest in Sanchez could alternatively be in relation to the paucity of effective wide-attacking options with the likes of Nani, Ashley Young and Luis Antonio Valencia all failing to deliver the goods last term, the trio racking up just four assists and four goals between them in Premier League action in 2013/14.

Last term was Sanchez’s most effective at Barcelona to date but it seems he may still be one of a number of first team regulars set for a summer exit as incoming boss Luis Enrique looks to conduct a major overhaul of the La Liga side’s squad.

The 25 year old former Udinese man netted 19 goals in 27 La Liga starts last term as he battled Pedro and Neymar for a regular spot alongside Lionel Messi in the Barcleona attack.
