The 24 year old Black Cats star is out of contract and despite interest from West Ham the adaptable battler is set to move to St James’ Park in a contentious move to his boyhood favourites.
Despite being a Magpies fan Colback has represented Sunderland since the age of ten but has refused the offer of a new deal from Gus Poyet and will move to the local rivals this summer.
Colback netted in Sunderland’s 3-0 win over Newcastle United last season and will no doubt be in for a fair amount of abuse from all sides but appears keen to join Alan Pardew’s outfit.
Newcastle United have already signed Ayoze Perez from Tenerife and Pardew will look to bring in a fair few other additions to boost his squad.
Jack Colback played a key role in Sunderland’s ‘great escape’ last term, making 45 appearances in all competitions.
