Check in to Spain vs Chile

Atletico Madrid are readying a move to re-sign Spanish international Fernando Torres but will wait until Diego Costa first completes his long awaited move to Chelsea before proceeding with advances for the former Liverpool man according to the Daily Mail.

The 30 year old has cut a forlorn figure at Stamford Bridge for some time now and has never come close to justifying the £50m outlay owner Roman Abramovich made to sign him back in January 2011, since when Torres has managed just 20 goals in 110 Premier League fixtures.

A move back to his native Spain may suit Torres though a lot could depend on just how little of that £50m the Blues are willing to accept for the misfiring marksman.

Prior to moving to the Premier League Torres spent seven seasons in the Vicente Calderon first team set-up, scoring 91 goals in 244 appearances before moving to Liverpool.

If Atletico Madrid boss is to lose Diego Costa, who netted 36 goals in all competitions last term, then one imagines he may be looking for other alternatives, as well as Torres, to help fill the very obvious void that such an exit would create.
