Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho is looking to raid his former Bernabeu side as he looks to welcome in midfielder Luke Modric and French youngster Raphael Varane.

Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is ready to offer £27m for Brazilian Ramires, having signed the battler during his time in charge of the west London outfit.

The arrival of Cesc Fabregas has perhaps led to Ancelotti’s renewed interest in the Chelsea star, who has been a mainstay of the Premier League side’s first team set-up for four seasons, racking up 196 appearances in the process.

Mourinho’s interest in Varane is apparently borne out of the sale of David Luiz to PSG, though it’s worth noting that the Brazilian barely featured in Chelsea’s defence last season and what appearances he did make in that role he looked shaky to say the least.

Chelsea wouldn’t appear to be in any urgent need of central defensive additions given that Mourinho can call upon John Terry, Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic and youngster Kurt Zouma to fill those roles.
