Arsene Wenger has his sights set on a move for Real Sociedad right back Joseba Zaldua.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger looks desperate to solve his right-back issues soon as reports in The Daily Mirror have revealed that the Frenchman has shortlisted Real Sociedad youngster Joseba Zaldua for the job.
It is further believed that the Gunners have a £3.5m buy-back clause in the Carlos Vela deal, but are more interested in selling their former forward on from the Spanish side to maximize profits. However, Zaldua’s sale may ‘neutralise’ the situation, thus letting Vela stay on at the club.
Arsenal’s long serving right-back Bacary Sagna joined Manchester City over the weekend, which has become extremely important for the north Londoners to sign a replacement for the veteran, especially as they presently have Carl Jenkinson as the only genuine right-back left within their ranks.
Zaldua meanwhile, recently put pen to paper on a new deal with his club, thus extending his stay at the Anoeta Stadium till 2018. He featured in some matches for the senior team last season but is still left to prove his worth at the highest level.
