(Video) Uruguay 2-1 England: Highlights And Report From World Cup Group D

England look set for an early flight home after Luis Suarez punishes their defensive errors.

England are almost certain to be exiting the 2014 FIFA World Cup at the group stage after they were beaten 2-1 by Uruguay in a tight game in Sao Paulo.

England had the better of the early chances, with Wayne Rooney drifting a free kick narrowly wide and then hitting the bar, but fell behind when Edinson Cavani’s brilliantly weighted pass was headed home by Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayans could’ve doubled their lead early on in the second half when Suarez and Cavani both came close, but England levelled when Glen Johnson burst into the box and squared for Wayne Rooney to tap home.

Their momentum started to slow, however, and the sucker punch came when captain Steven Gerrard misjudged a long ball forward, allowing Suarez to race in and smash past Joe Hart.
