The Northern Irishman is preparing his squad for the Champions League.

After a brilliant year in the Premier League in 2013/14 Liverpool will be returning to the Champions League next season after a five year absence.

The Reds finished second to Manchester City in the English top tier last term against the odds and manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to build on that success.

There has already been some controversy involving the club as their forward Luis Suarez appeared to bite an opponent for the third time in his career during the Italy v Urguay 2014 World Cup match on Tuesday.

Suarez is also constantly being involved in transfer rumours, but regardless of whether the South American stays or goes the hierarchy at Anfield have already pledged a £60m transfer budget to Rodgers to spend on new talent, according to the Mirror.

Here’s who the Northern Irishman has his eye on.

Dejan Lovren, Southampton – £15m

Rickie Lambert has already made the switch from St Mary’s to Anfield this summer and the club are hoping that the England international con convince Lovren to do the same.

The Croatian has only been with the Saints for 12 months following an £8.5m switch from Olympique Lyon, but the 24-year-old has now handed in a transfer request.
