Benzema had been tipped to join the Gunners as it looked as though the European champions were going to hold off from offering him an extension on his current deal that expires next summer.
The club did eventually open talks with the Frenchman, though, but were said to be reluctant on meeting his apparently exorbitant demands to double his salary.
Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane contacted Benzema and his associates earlier this week to convince him to sign a new deal with the club.
And now reports in Spain are suggesting that Benzema is keen to tie up a new deal, believing that the interventions of the coaching staff has given him the faith that the club are hoping to keep hold of him.
Benzema’s deal with the club hasn’t been revised since he first joined back in 2009, but is thought to be in line for some sort of raise following his contribution to the side last season.
