United offered chance to sign Real winger.Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal could reach the £100m mark in transfer spending in his first summer in charge at Old Trafford as he ponders a £40m bid for Angel Di Maria, according to the Daily Star.
The Spanish giants have surprisingly shown a willingness to sell the Argentine winger after his superb form in 2013/14 helped them to glory in the Champions League and Copa del Rey, and have reportedly offered him to the Red Devils for just £40m.
Although United are said to value him at more like £30m, it seems likely that van Gaal will take the opportunity to land a world class attacking midfielder for relatively cheap, whilst also beating the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City to his signature.
Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also mentioned as possible suitors, and there’s no question that players of this quality are not often put up for sale in such a manner.
With Di Maria likely to have plenty of offers this summer, United may have the move fast to add him to their other two major signings of this transfer window, with Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw coming in for a combined cost of around £60m.
