The 20 year old Benfica winger is seemingly set to complete a £20m move to the Merseyside club where he will join the likes of Emre Can, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana, who have already been brought in to significantly strengthen Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

The former Partizan Belgrade man is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football and the signing fits well with Liverpool’s youthful transfer policy.

The Serbian international started 30 matches in all competitions in his debut season in Portugal, scoring seven goals.

Markovic is a winger with real potential and given Liverpool’s pursuit of Xherdan Shaqiri and their decision to not look to make the temporary move for Victor Moses a permanent one it would appear that youngster could be a player Rodgers looks to bring in to strengthen his options in the final third.
