Liverpool are right back on the trail of Sevilla left back Alberto Moreno, according to reports from the Mirror, with chief executive Ian Ayre flying out to Spain in a bid to thrash out a deal for the young defender.

The Reds have been chasing Moreno all summer, but a prospective deal did seem to be dead in the water when Europa League winners Sevilla were demanding a massive fee to let go of the 22 year-old.

Moreno has spent his entire career, including his time as a youth player, with Sevilla, making 45 La Liga appearances for the club on top of his time operating for the club’s B team in the Spanish lower leagues.

He played an important part in the club’s impressive Europa League run last season, where they saw off Benfica in a tense penalty shoot-out to lift the trophy.

The likes of Chelsea player Ryan Bertrand and Sporting Lisbon star Marcos Rojo have also been linked with a move to Anfield, but it looks as though Brendan Rodgers is set to return to his initial target in the position.

The change of heart by Liverpool may be due to the sale of Luis Suarez, with the Reds perhaps willing to pay a little bit more to secure their key target now that the Uruguayan has departed to Barcelona for a huge fee.
