Chelsea are in talks with Atletico Madrid over a possible move for Fernando Torres to re-join his former club for a fee of around £13m, according to Eurosport.

The Blues and Atletico have already done a lot of business this summer, in moves which have so far seen Spanish striker Diego Costa and Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis swap the La Liga champions for Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea also remain keen on signing another Atletico star as they target Brazilian centre-back Miranda, but it also looks as though Torres could head in the opposite direction as Diego Simeone’s side look to recruit a new striker.

Torres, 30, has been a big disappointment since his £50m move from Liverpool in 2011, scoring just 20 goals in 110 Premier League appearances over the last three-and-a-half seasons – a far cry from his form at Anfield that saw him become regarded as one of the best strikers in the world.

The Spaniard started his career at Atletico before first moving to the Premier League in 2007, and may now look to see out the remainder of his career with his first club, joining as a decent replacement for Costa, who has been brought in to improve Jose Mourinho’s attacking options.
