La Liga title holders Atletico Madrid have reportedly made Chelsea attacker Andre Schurrle their number one transfer target according to Portuguese source Abola.

The German international moved to Chelsea in an £18m deal last summer and played something of a bit-part supporting role before making a real impact at the World Cup finals and may well be looking for guarantees of a more prominent role in the Blues set-up in 2014/15.

If Jose Mourinho is unwilling, or unable, to make such a commitment then perhaps a move to the Vicente Calderon would become all the more tempting for the 23 year old.

Schurrle started just 15 Premier League fixtures last term, with another 15 appearances coming from the bench, but did manage to rack up nine goals in all competitions and progressively improved as the campaign went on.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has seen his side decimated by summer departures and may see Schurrle as the man to help provide an impact in the final third with Diego Costa and David Villa having left for Chelsea and New York City FC respectively.
