Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that a lack of transfer funds could prevent him from adding another striker to his squad before the transfer window closes, Sky Sports reports.

Former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has been linked with a move to Everton while a bid for Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck is also reportedly under consideration.

On Welbeck and Eto’o, Martinez said: “There is a lot of money involved in those two. At the moment, if I am honest with you, I am looking at all the options”.

Everton’s activity in the transfer market will also depend on the availability of strikers Arouna Kone and Bryan Ovideo, who both suffered serious injuries last season.

“Oviedo and Kone will have a big say on how we end the window and I have an open mind about it,” Martinez added. “Our first-half performance (against Arsenal) shows what we have got in the squad.”

Everton aren’t the only club who are reportedly interested in signing Welbeck. Reports last week suggest that both Tottenham and Arsenal are ready to bid for the England international. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/11050696/Danny-Welbeck-told-he-can-leave-Manchester-United-which-could-spark-interest-from-Arsenal-and-Tottenham.html

Welbeck is reportedly unhappy at the lack of first team football he is receiving at Manchester United and with the Red Devils set to sign Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, Welbeck could move elsewhere in order to enhance his chances of first team football.
