Liverpool will find out who their first Champions League opponents since December 2009 will be very shortly when the draw for this season’s group stage is made by UEFA this afternoon.
Despite their recent absence form the competition, the Reds have a proud history in the European Cup, having won it five times.
Steven Gerrard captained the club when they last lifted the famous trophy in 2005.
Gerrard uploaded the below image to Instagram earlier today, along with the message: “Can’t wait for this draw later . Excited .. Hope [Fernando] Morientes got that bogie he was searching for in the background”.
