The club have agreed a deal to sign the Monaco striker on a season long loan, pipping the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Manchester City to his signature.

They will pay the French club a £6m loan fee with Falcao’s wages expected to cost United £10m for the season, with the option to buy him permanently next summer.

However, their search for new faces will not stop with the Colombian international as manager Louis Van Gaal still harbours hopes of bringing in a midfielder.

The club have again seen a number of moves fail to materialise this time around, but the club are still keeping a close watch on the transfer market as the window winds down to a close.

United have been expected to complete a £16m deal for Ajax star Daley Blind with many believing that the move is a done deal subject to a medical, but the club are also in desperate need of a new defender, too.
