Alan Pardew has once again borne the brunt of criticism from Newcastle United fans, this time over his decision to let Hatem Ben Arfa leave the club and move to Hull City on a season long loan, the Daily Star reports.

The French winger was a fan favourite during his time at St James’ Park however, a falling out with Pardew led to his appearances in the Magpies first team becoming less and less frequent.

Ben Arfa will almost certainly never play for Newcastle again as when he finishes his loan period at Hull, his contract with the North East club will expire, meaning he can move to another club on a free transfer.

This appears to have upset the Magpies fans. An online poll set up by an influential fanzine said that a huge 86% of fans would rather see Pardew leave than Ben Arfa.

A spokesman for influential fanzine ‘The Mag’ said: “Pardew has got rid of a player whose situation for many fans symbolised the overall problems at St James’ Park.”

As he departed Newcastle, Ben Arfa wrote an open letter to thank the clubs supports but revealingly, the French winger didn’t thank Pardew.

He said: “I wish Newcastle the best of luck. I hope they have a good season.

“To the Toon Army I want to pass on my thanks to all the fans that supported me during my time at the club and living in a city that will be forever in my heart.

“Thank you also to everyone at NUFC and to Hull for making this loan happen. Howay the lads.”
