It’s fair to say that Shinji Kagawa failed to deliver the goods during his two seasons at Man United but it’s unlikely that any fan of the Old Trafford side would doubt the Japanese international’s raw ability.

Under David Moyes his chances came few and far between and the Scot insisted on using Kagawa in a position that simply didn’t suit him and a move back to Borussia Dortmund is one that is likely to work well for the Kobe born star and could serve to prove Louis van Gaal wrong.

The Dutch manager has of course got a myriad of flair players who can support his out and out striking talents, with Angel di Maria, Juan Mata, Adnan Januzaj and Wayne Rooney able to sit in such a slot, Kagawa didn’t take long to make an impact back at the Westfalenstadion.

Kagawa provided an assist in his second debut for Dortmund and also scored a goal, this calmly finished effort against Freiburg.
