The German international was given the ‘lowest possible rating’ in Bild’s review of Tuesday’s game.

German newspaper Bild has slammed Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil for his performance against Borussia Dortmund by giving him the worst rating of all the players who took to the field last night, the Daily Mirror reports.

The 24 year old moved to the Emirates last summer for a Gunners record £42.4 million but after a good start, the former Real Madrid play maker has fallen away and is currently in terrible form.

He was substituted after an ineffective 63 minutes in last night’s Champions League tie at Westfalenstadion and Bild showed no mercy when rating his performance.

The German star was given a rating of ‘6’ which is the lowest possible score the newspaper could have given him. The publication also claimed that Ozil ”didn’t even earn his money”.

While the play maker is undoubtedly playing badly, many pundits feel that it is Arsene Wenger who is to blame for the player’s form because he isn’t being played in his favoured number 10 position.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright was one of those to voice his frustration at Wenger’s decision to play Ozil on the wing when he tweeted: ”Arsene get Ozil in the middle, get the team to play around him! He’s 42 mill worth of player for a reason. Do something with him PLEASE.”
