Wenger confirms Monreal is available.

Arsene Wenger has some positive news ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Chelsea on Sunday as Nacho Monreal returns from injury.

The left-back has been out of action since the 2-2 draw with Manchester City on September 13 with a back problem and with several fitness concerns of late it will be a welcome return.

Not that Monreal is likely to start the game at Stamford Bridge, with Kieran Gibbs the preferred option in the starting XI for Wenger.

However, with his ability to also operate in midfield and at centre-back the 28-year-old will be a useful option from the bench.

Wenger has a selection headache currently with captain Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Debuchy, Olivier Giroud, Serge Gnabry, Aaron Ramsey, Yaya Sanogo and Theo Walcott all out.

Monreal had been called upon frequently before his own injury, with Gibbs suffering with his own fitness concerns at the start of the season and the Spain international has made seven appearances in 2014/15 to date.

The defender joined the Gunners in January 2013 from Malaga for £10m and has since played 54 times in all competitions.
