Gunners confident of signing Andrey Onana.

Arsenal are confident of securing a deal to sign Barcelona youth goalkeeper Andrey Onana next summer, report the Express, with the Catalan club now looking likely to offer an improved deal to the Cameroonian stopper despite a string of impressive performances for the club’s youth sides.

Spotted by chief scout Francis Cigago, the Gunners have had their eyes on Onana since the start of the year and almost struck a deal for him in the summer before he chose to remain at the Nou Camp, a situation that is unlikely to be replicated this time around due to the lack of impetus that Barca are putting into keeping the teenager.

The Gunners will be able to speak to Onana over signing a pre-contract arrangement in January and, this report suggests, are confident of tying up a deal to bring the youngster to the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.

Whilst he is unlikely to challenge senior duo Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina for some time, excitement is building around Onana and he may well replaced Argentine youngster Damian Martinez as the club’s brightest goalkeeping prospect and de facto third choice, should the deal to bring him to North London go through, continuing a trend of Arsenal signing Barcelona youth players.
