The Red Devils pulled off a British record signing in the form of Angel di Maria from Real Madrid this transfer window. It has recently been revealed however, that the Argentine was very close to joining the free spending French duo of Monaco and PSG.

Monaco and Real Madrid had allegedly agreed a deal for the pacey forward long before the World Cup even began, and despite personal terms also being agreed, delays on Monaco’s end put the kibosh on the whole thing.

PSG were equally close to signing the World Cup finalist, but had to curb their spending somewhat after spending £50m on former Chelsea man David Luiz.

Manchester United took advantage of the French pair’s hesitations and swooped in to secure di Maria’s signature. And the way he has been performing so far this season makes it look like they have done some fantastic business.
