Bayern step up interest in United target.
Manchester United and Bayern Munich look set to be the main contenders for the signing of Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado this January, according to Fichajes.net.
The Red Devils were linked with the talented Colombian international for much of the summer transfer window, and look likely to renew their interest in him in January as Louis van Gaal looks set to continue his big-spending policy at Old Trafford.
Cuadrado could be an ideal signing to come in and play as a wing-back in United’s occasional 3-5-2 system, though it now looks as though Bayern Munich are also serious in winning the race for his signature this season.
The 26-year-old is about to sign a new contract with Fiorentina, though this will only serve to give him a release clause of around £27.5m, which should represent a bargain for a player of his quality.
This will likely attract plenty of interest from top clubs around Europe, and United and Bayern look to be the main two contenders to sign him at the moment, in what will be an intriguing January transfer window saga.
Bayern already have plenty of attacking midfield options in their ranks, but Cuadrado remains a priority signing for the Bavarian giants.
