Player’s agent calls starlet’s treatment this season “nonsense”.
Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal has been slammed for his treatment of starlet winger Adnan Januzaj this season, the Daily Star reports.
The Dutchman has been accused of blanking the teenager so fed having only used him during the Capital One Cup defeat to MK Dons earlier in the campaign when he was struggling for fitness.
Having burst onto the scene last season, he has seen his career stall and has made just six sub appearances this campaign and played only 122 minutes of Premier League football.
But his agent Dirk De Vriese said: “That Adnan had to prove himself for Louis van Gaal in that match is nonsense.
“After an elbow in training Adnan’s mouth was ripped open and he was under antibiotics and really should not have played.
“But after twenty minutes Shinji Kagawa is injured and Adnan suddenly need to play.
“Then it makes sense that you do not play your best game ever. ”
Januzaj risks becoming a forgotten man at Old Trafford despite his brilliant breakthrough earning him a new five-year deal last October.
“The key lies with Van Gaal,” De Vriese continued.
“Adnan has not had a real conversation with the Dutchman, but he also knows that the club believes in him a lot.
“Otherwise they would not give him the mythical number eleven shirt of Ryan Giggs. Moreover, he takes it as professionally as ever.
“Even when he was put back to the under-21s he swallowed his disappointment and he played at his best though it was sometimes through gritted teeth.”
