Kane is Tottenham’s leading scorer this term, having netted seven goals in six Capital One Cup and Europa League games.

However, he has again been left on the bench, with Pochettino opting to select Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor in attack.

Adebayor has scored two goals in 10 games in all competitions this season, while Soldado has notched two in nine.

Erik Lamela, who scored his third goal of the season in Wednesday night’s 2-0 win over Brighton, is also among the substitutes.

Christian Benteke starts up front for Villa, making his fourth appearance of the season.

Villa boss Paul Lambert has made two changes to his starting XI following Monday’s 2-0 defeat at QPR.

Nathan Baker and Charles N’Zogbia come in for Ciaran Clark and Gabriel Agbonlahor.
