The German midfielder has discussed his affection for Manchester United in an interview.

Manchester United target Christoph Kramer has admitted that he is a fan of the club, according to Italian site Tuttomercatoweb.

“As a young man I greatly admired Manchester United,” the midfielder is quoted as saying by the Italian transfer centre.

Kramer, who plays for Borussia Monchengladbach, has followed up on last year’s breakthrough season and his knockout 2014 World Cup with some great performances this term.

Unfortunately for him, the most memorable moment of his season so far was the spectacular long range own goal he scored last weekend.

With Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher reaching the end of his careers, United need fresh blood in midfield, and the 23-year-old German looks a perfect partner to Daley Blind a new look Red Devils midfield.

Kramer is entering the second year of his two year deal at Gladbach, but may never make an appearance for parent club Bayer Leverkusen if Louis van Gaal’s side make a successful bid next summer.

But United will have to get a move on if they want to sign the German, as they have plenty of competition for the youngster: in the same interview he admits to being a Real Madrid fan as well, and says that being linked with the Spanish club is a “huge honour”.
