The Frenchman apparently spoke to the team about how they let another game slip, after being on top for almost the entire game against the Red Devils. As the team are without a win in three games and lying in eighth in the Premier League, the side’s general form was also an issue for the 65-year-old.

Speaking after the match, the North London club’s boss said that he was unhappy with the loss, but not with his players.

“I wasn’t angry with the players – I have a lot of respect for the energy they put in the game and the spirit they show,” he said. “I’m just angry because the players do not get rewarded and our fans do not get rewarded for the result that was just there for the taking today. We have suffered against United before but we cannot say that we suffered against them today.”

This would go against the reports that he kept the players locked in the dressing room after the match, unless he was just explaining to them how unlucky he thought they were.

The Gunners play against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in a game that they need to win if they want to top their Champions League group.
